Sakinah mawaddah wa rahmah

Tazkirah

Marriage is a blessed sacred union between a man and a woman. Allah swt had ordained it and given some of its main purposes in the two ayats below

‏And We said: O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in the garden and eat from it a plenteous (food) wherever you wish and do not approach this tree, for then you will be of the unjust.

‏And one of His signs is that He created mates for you from yourselves that you may find rest in them, and He put between you love and compassion; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect.
From these 2 ayats, we can extract some valuable gems on this sacred union

1. sakinah
Allah swt had used this word in both the ayats
What does sakinah means? It comprises of 3 main components
A) rest, enjoyment, bliss -
B) peace, tranquility, calm-
C) stability-
Hence when someone feels sakinah, he feels rest, enjoyment, bliss, peacefulness, tranquility and calmness in addition to stability. Hence this is the main purpose of marriage- having all the above. If our marriage are devoid of these, then something is definitely wrong somewhere. If we return home and instead of finding rest, enjoyment, bliss, tranquillity and stability, but the opposite, we have to check why. We have to return back to the Quran and the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet saw. We need to check what when wrong and why it is not working.

2. Mawaddah- مودة
Which means love- whether it is physically (sexually) or emotionally. Mujahid rah explain that mawaddah in this ayah means sexual intercourse.
It can also means affection. Hence another purpose of marriage is so that we can obtain love from our spouse both physically and emotionally. Dont let the spark died down. Both husband and wife need to play their part. Keep the flame on.

3. rahmah-
Which means compassion and mercy. Rahmah came from the root word رحم which also means the womb of the mother. And the womb (i) is a complete and total protection and care to the baby; (ii) is a place for complete development for the baby. Hence when we say rahmah, it encompasses compassion, mercy, total protection and care and development of growth and this is the marriage in Islam. The spouses need to have mercy, compassion with each other and at the same time protects and care for the half and becomes a means for growth and development for each other.

So lets us work on our marriage by following the Guide from the Quran and our Beloved Rasullullah saw and inshaallah our marriage will achieve sakinah, mawaddah and rahmah. We have to learn and re-learn how to make our marriage works and inshaallah we will find there is no better متاع- pleasure in his world than a good spouse and marriage.

And our beloved prophet (saw) had shown us many ways for us to improve our marriage practically and increasing the sakinah, mawaddah and rahmah without compromising the romance and other aspects. Below are some of the gems from the prophet saw:

1. Drinking and eating from one place

Aisha radiallahu anha says that the Prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam gave me a vessel (cup)   And I drank from it while I was still in menses and then I gave to him the cup and he salallahu alaihi wasslam take this cup and search for the place where the lips of his beloved wife made contact.  Upon finding the place where his wife drank from the cup, he would put his lips on the very same place so that his lips have touched the place where her lips touched.  (Nasaii)

When there was meat to eat, Aisha radiallahu anha would take a bite.  The Prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam would take the meat from her hand and again place his mouth the very same place where his wife ate from.  This would add taste of love to his food.
Do things together with your wife.  Do not just eat at the same time and on the same tablecloth, but eat from the same plate.  Or drink from the same cup. Let alone the same plate, eat together from the same food.  This will bond the hearts so close to one another.  When everything your wife comes into contact with becomes more beloved to you than food itself, imagine what it will do to the flame of love between both of you. And doing things with jamaah will increase the bondship between each other. Even if your husband came late back home, spend time together with him and eat together with him. If you have ate, just accompany him and be his dinner companion.

2. Kissing

Aishah radhillahu anha narrated that verily the Prophet sallahu alaihi wassalam kiss her (even) when he is fasting.

Compliment your spouse physically often with kisses.  When exiting the house, make it habit you leave by coming into contact with your spouse.  When returning home, along with saying salām to her, show that you have missed her dearly.  When your husband going out, see him off and kiss him. Greet him with a smile when he returns.

The Prophet sallahu alaihi wassalam was also reported that he kissed his wives before going to the mosque for solah.

Surprise her with a kiss.  You have to show your love.  Love is the fuel of marriage; if you desire your marriage to progress, you have to express your love in every way you can, physically and emotionally.

Physical relations in a marriage are very important. Show your spouse you love him/her.  Shariah promotes romance and physical relations between the husband and wife.

... to be continued biiznillah

   Tazkirah

Until when they came to the valley of the Naml, a Namlite said: O Naml! enter your houses, (that) Sulaiman and his hosts may not crush you while they do not know.

The above ayat from surah an naml is one of my favourites. When i was young (sekarang pun mcm masih muda juga😁) i was taught by someone to recite the words of the ant (from ya ayuhan namlud...) to chase away the ants. And it usually works somehow. My brother once saw me do that and asked me what am i doing and said something which triggers something in me, what if the ants checked and saw theres no prophet sulaiman as and his army.

After much studying, i realised that this ayat is a very important ayah which we can and may derive many gems from it. Though some people might use it as a doa against ants and how it may seems it works, it is not a doa derived from the prophet saw and its companions ranhum ajmain. Just as my brother said, if the ants checked and there are no prophet sulaiman as, we telling them something which actually not happening.
Some scholars went into useless debates due to this ayat such as what is the gender of the ant that said the words, however, it is not important just like what is the colour of the ashabul dog, the nos of ppl in tbe ashabul kahf etc. Nevertheless below are some of the gems which we can derive from this ayat
1) this ayat told about the concerned of a particular ant for his community on the impending danger that is coming and make dakwah to his community.
This is a great lesson on the importance of (a) having concerns for unmah ; (b) love for ummah; (c) making dakwah ; (d) saving ummah from impending danger.
If an ant which we consider a small insignificant creature was honoured by Allah swt because of the above qualities, what will be of man, the best of all creation, having concerns for the ummah, love for them, constantly making dakwah and saving them from all kinds of dangers, especially the eternal hell fire. Surely and clearly he will be elevated by al Khaliq!
2) dont underestimate your own potential.
Even if you are a small creature like an ant, theres always great part you can contribute to the society and ummah.
3) dont underestimate any khair (goodness) although how small it may seems.
It may seems a small words or gesture but if it is good, don't ever belittle it. Hence never ever belittle any small acts that our brother did. Once it is accepted by Almighty, its rewards are bi ghoiri hisab! The Prophet saw said
Which means do not belittle from any of the goodness even such when you meet yr brother with a smiling /happy/ brilliant face!
4) helping one another for good things
And this is a special characteristics that can be found in ants wherever you go.
And there are many more gems inshaallah. But before i ends, we must know that ants are dignified creatures which The Prophet saw had prohibitted us from killing them.

Munaqashah mlm hari
Someone asked me after a dars 'why did you said that to leave acts of ibadah which are not been done by the Prophet saw and his companions ranhum eventhough even it is good and proven to be good?'
So i answered him:
The answer is actually very simple and you dont need to be a skyrocket muhaddith to answer it or bring all the dalils from the Quran and Sunnah ( tho the dalils on this subject are more than plentiful)
1) probability of acceptance
If you know a business which is profitable w/o any probability of loss (100%) and a business which there is a probabilty of failure or loss even it is small (w the same profit, capital, work) which one will you choose? Of course we will choose the one with no probability of loss n failure.
Hence the same with the matters of Aqidah and Rituals of Ibadah. If it is been shown by the prophet saw and accepted by him, hence 100% acceptance from the One who send him. But if i was to do something in the ritual of ibadah which are not endorsed by him although it looks good, proven good in the eyes of mankind, but will it have been confirmed accepted by Him? The probability of non acceptance is there. Why take the risk bro? Especially on things that concerns your hereafter.
2) pandoras box
By performing something which had not been shown by the prophet saw and his companions is just like opening the pandoras box. By opening it you are creating or corrupting the rituals that is been confirmed and adding or making the rituals more complex, difficult etc..just like what the nasora did to their religion that now if you see in their ritual prayers, none can be attributed back to their Prophet as. Slowly it will erode and corrupt the pureness of the approved rituals with the new addition however sensational it is. Thats why we asked from Allah swt at least 17 a day to be not of the maghdub alaihim (yahud) and dhollin (nasora). Why, the yahud they change their religion to their own whims and desires while the nasora they just do the religion w/o knowledge and do what they seem good and like.
3) for my own safety during the hisab
So that i will be safe of course. Kiasu aper.
For eg when asked by Allah swt why dont you do this act of worship (which are not shown by the prophet saw), i can confidently said that i had not known that it was been done by the prophet saw so i dont dare to 'pandai-pandai nak lawan tauke'. So i dont do it. If i know the he saw done it i will surely do it.
Rather than when asked why i do this act of worship which are not shown by the prophet saw, and then i had to answer ..hmm coz it is good..hmm coz the others do it...coz the ustaz say so..hmm coz my intention is good...coz theres an indication that it is good from the sunnah tho the prophet and his companions did not do it..hmm wah so difficult man
So who will be more safer in this case.

Religion is simple so make it simple bro.
Then he asked me a last question before departing, ' then taking a car to masjid, studying deen in university, seminars, road show dakwah also not shown by the prophet saw and the companions.. So cant do?'
I smiled, ' Bro that is not aqidah or Rituals of ibadah at all. 😁. Dont be confused. Alat of tasbih, degree and diploma courses in islamic studies, categorising knowledges for easy understanding, making specific dakwah methods like magazine, lectures, seminars etc and even global dakwah day to promote dakwah or hijab day to make awareness of hijab to Muslim and non muslim are clearly not Rituals of Ibadah'

Tazkirah pagi jumaat
Today the imam read the beautiful surah sajadah in the fajr prayer at msj al-islah.
I will like to gain some rewards here by sharing some gems in one of the ayat from this surah. May Allah swt gives me the strength to practice what I said

Their sides draw away from (their) beds, they call upon their Lord in fear and in hope, and they spend (benevolently) out of what We have given them.
To understand this ayah, we need to read the ayah that precede it, which is
Only they believe in Our communications who, when they are reminded of them, fall down in prostration and celebrate the praise of their Lord, and they are not proud.
Allah swt describes the characteristics of the believer in this ayah, ie making sujud when hearing his words/signs/proofs and making hamd (praises and syukr) to their Lord and they r not proud.
And then He further describes the believers's characteristics: 'Their sides draw away from (their) beds, they call upon their Lord in fear and in hope, and they spend (benevolently) out of what We have given them'
In tafsir Qurtubi, the meaning of leaving or drawing away from their beds is to make prayer, the mufassirin from the companions and tabiin clarified that it means (1) qiyamullail - tahajjud; (2) solat isha; (3) nafilah prayer between maghrib and isha; (4) solat isha and fajr with jamaah/ congregation.
Gems from this ayah
1) from the characteristics of the believers, they guard and take care of these prayers (we combine all the clarification from the mufassirin)- ie qiyamullail, sunnah prayers between mahhrib and isha and solat isha and fajr with jamaah fil masjid. These are the signs of believers which are recognised by the Maker.
2) another characteristic mentioned in this ayah is- they make doa / prayer/ call to Allah swt with two main characteristics:- khaufan / fear and tomaaan / hope.
This is the characteristics of a believer having fear and hope at the same time. Fear w/o hope will results in despair while hope w/o will result in overconfidence and trangression. Iman is having hope and fear at the same time.
Another beauty of the word used here is also the word طمع
Which always translated as hope. However, this word also means greed or the want to have more and more. (Btw bahasa melayu copied this word into their vocab😁) It signify that it is just not a normal hope or want, but the feeling if wanting badly, in which in this ayah it means really badly wants His mercy, forgiveness and His rewards!
Hence when we r making doa, we need really to ask for it badly and no only wanting a little but request for more and more of His nikmah, mercy and forgiveness greedily. If asking for jannah dont ask for any jannah but the highest of the jannah- jannah al firdaus!
3) spending the money in His path
Wallahualam bissowab

Retrospect Pagi Subuh ini
Assalamualaikum
Ana ditanya seorang teman ahli masjid, 'kenapa eh ustaz2 tak gi solat berjemaah di masjid? Ana jarang nampak mereka berjemaah melainkan jika ada kuliah ajer'
Ana tersentak didlm hati mendengar pertanyaannya yg cukup ..pergh! Mcm kena tembak gitu:-)
Ana jawab padanya' mungkin mereka sibuk berkuliah atau berjemaah ditempat lain. Sangka baik la ya syeikh.'
Dia jawab dgn selamba: sangka baik memang betul ya habibi, tapi subuh hari2 pun ada kuliah??!?

Subhannallah! Allahu mustaan.
Ya tepuk dada tanya iman.
Teringat perintah nabi saw yg memerintah seorng sahabat buta ke masjid jika mendengar azan. Ya memang kite bole berdalil tak dengar azan aper..hai who r we kidding to.
Teringat ancaman nabi saw yg ingin membakar rumah2 org yg cukup dgn solat dirumah
Wahai teman2 asatizah (terutama ana sendiri), berapa banyak slogan2 yg kite laungkan yg kite mencintai nabi saw, cintakan sunnahnya, cintakan sahabat2nya, berselawat ke atasnya, menangis2 dsb...it comes back to our actions and iman. Adakah saya telah solat 5 waktu berjemaah dimsj? Adakah ianya semua lip service. Ya memang banyak dalil2 yg kite bole keluarkan tetapi adakah ianya 'valid and sound' ?
Apabila azan berkumandang, malahan para2 asatizah yg sedang mesyuarat didlm msj tetap continue bermesyuarat..yg sedang sibuk berkerja tetap bekerja..yg sibuk tak tahu buat aper pun, pun sibuk ...

tazkirah jumaat. dakwah nabi saw

Santapan rohani hari jumaat
Abuhanzolah
Allah swt berfirman," maka adakah kamu (Wahai Muhammad saw) akan membunuh diri kamu sendiri (kerana sedih) keatas mereka jika mereka tidak mahu beriman dgn hadis (perkara wahyu) ini. (Kahf 6)
Kesedihan nabi saw atas umatnya hingga kan seolah2 sampai ketahap hingga Allah swt mengatakan bahiun nafsaka yaitu membunuh diri. Juga disebut didlm ayat yg lain
Dan diriwiyatkan Dari hind :
Kecintaan yg amat sangat nabi saw keatas umatnya Dan ini juga ciri2 dakwah anbiya as
Dari Abdullah ra:
Didlm hadis yg lain
Fikir nabi saw yg hebat didlm perkara2 dakwah Dan ianya dalil keatas kesempurnaannya Dan kelengkapannya didlm usahakan dakwah
Kehebatan pengorbanan nabi saw didlm berdakwah Dan ianya menujukkan kesungguhannya saw didlm usaha dakwah.
Marilah kita meladani nabi saw didlm manhaj dakwahnya.
Inshaallah sampai sini dulu, Dan bagi cara hendak hilangkan kesedihan apabila ditimpa musibah didlm usaha dakwah, maka perlu perhatikan ayat2 selanjutnya hingga ayat at ke 9.
Semoga kita semua dapat mengambil contoh Dari rasulullah saw didlm usaha dakwahnya kerana dia saw adalah sebaik2 qudwah untuk semua majal didlm kehidupan manusia. Allahumma solli ala muhammad. Allahuma inni asaluka ilman nafian wa rizkan toyyiban wa amalan mutaqobalan.

Solat didepan jenazah

(HR. Muslim, no. 972)
Bagaimanapun ianya bukan sebagai dalil. Karena jenazah tidak dinamakan kuburan. Baik secara bahasa maupun agama

Kedua, jika ianya dilarang menyolat didepannya mayat atau jenazah, bukankah solat jenazah didepannya jenazah, Dan solat jenazah pun solat juga?
Jg jelas Ialah yg dilarang Ialah didepannya kuburan , bukan jenazah atau mayat, Kerana iannya adalah dua perkara yg berbeza.

Ketiga, ini jugs pendapat Dari kebanyakkan masyaikh. Antaranya:

Syekh Ibnu Baz rahimahullah ditanya, “Kalau jenazah datang pada hari Jum'at disela-sela shalat, apakah kami letakkan di depan atau belakang kami? Terima kasih."

(Fatawa Nurun ‘Ala Ad-Darbi, 2/1120)

Syekh Ibnu Utsaimin rahimahullah ditanya, “Apa hukum meletakkan jenazah di depan orang-orang shalat, agar mereka menyelesaikan shalat fardu kemudian menshalati jenazah?"

(Fatawa Nurun Ala Ad-Darbi)

Amalan apabila pindah Rumah

Kerana Ada member menanyakan mengenai amalan2 pindah Rumah, Ana tuliskan secara ringkas supaya kita semua Dapat manfaat Inshaallah

Amalan2 apabila memasuki Rumah baru/ pindah
1) bersyukur kepada Allah swt keatas nikmah
"sesunhguhnya jika kamu bersyukur pasti kami Akan menambah kepadamu.."
Surah Ibrahim 7

2) mengadakan wakirah
Dibolehkan mengadakan wakirah, sejenis walimah mengundang org2 makan tanda kesyukuran. Ada ulama menganjurkannya seperti al imam Syafiee
Diantara walimah Ialah wakirah.

Jangan kalian jadikan rumah2 anda perkuburan. Sesungguhmya syai than lari Dari Rumah yg dibaca kan surah baqarah .

Begitu jugs banyakkan solat2 sunnah didlmnya.

Begitu jugs Membaca doa2 Dari nabi saw seperti masuk Rumah, keluar Rumah, Dan doa2 lain seperti auzubi kalimat illah tammat minnsyarri ma kholaq, dsb

The best days of the year

The best 10 days of the year

Many of us know the best 10 nights of the year, which are the last 10 nights of ramadhan. However many Muslims are not aware that the first 10 days of zulhijjah are the best days of the year.  ( 6th oct is first of zulhijjah) Some are aware of this but do not pay much attention to it as much as they do with last 10 nights of ramadhan and sadly let the blessed opportunity and blessings slip out of their fingers and hence missed the bounties that already been reserved for them.
So we must utilize the best days of these sacred days as these days will remind us that another precious year of ours drawing to an end and we are more closer to our death, and hence the best ways to evaluate our deeds and make sure our standings in front of Allah swt improved.

Ibn hajar rah mentioned in his book fathul Bari that the apparent reason for these blessed days is " the ten days of zulhijjah being distinguished in excellence is due to the assembly of the greatest acts of worship in this period that is solat, fasting, charity and hajj. In no other period that these great deeds are combined"

Allah swt said in the Quran
And the ten nights,
Many mufassirin such as Ibn Abbas , Ibn zubair and mujahid had explained that the ten here are the first ten days of zulhijjah, and Allah swt has taken oath of these ten in surah fajr.
In a narration by Ibn Abbas in bukhari,
The prophet saw said : there are no days which the good deeds are beloved to Allah swt than these days- that is the first ten days of zulhijjah - they said : not even jihad in the path of allah? He saw said:  not even jihad in the path if Allah swt except someone  goes out for jihad with his ownself and wealth and then returning with nothing.
There are so many ahadith on the virtues of these days.
So In these days best we increase our deeds especially
A) voluntary prayers during the days and nights of the these 10 days.
B) fasting during these ten days except on the 10th of zulhijjah
And specially on the day of Arafah, 9th of zulhijjah in which the prophet saw said it abolish sins of two years, the past and the one coming! Subhannallah .
3) zikrullah
May Allah swt helps us and made us amongst the ones who receives His blessings and forgiveness during these days. so don't miss these precious days which start tomorrow and if you are kind enough, make doa for me and my family. Jazakallahu khairan

Menstruating women reading and touching the Quran

Menstruation women reading and touching the Quran
Verily the scholars differ regarding menstruating women reading and touching the Quran .

Reading the Quran
a) it is prohibited
jumhur ulama - majority of the scholars are in view that it is prohibited  for menstruating women to read the Quran. In this category they differs in the prohibition. 1) Some prohibit it as itlaq (blanket prohibition) 2) while others in this category prohibit it generally except for special circumstances such as hafizah who need to revise in case she will forgets or a female teacher teaching deen n Quran or a student who need to memories or learn the Quran or saving the Quran and etc. 3) while others said the prohibition only in reciting in by lisan (audibly). But reading by heart or silently is ok.
Some of the proofs of this prohibition are:
Hadith of the prophet saw
do not read a menstruation woman or those in junub anything from the Quran
(termizi n bayhaqi)
N some of other ahadith in the same meaning.
This is the view majority of the sahabah and fuqaha.
2) it is not prohibited
This is a view of some scholars such as imam bukhori, Ibn hajar etc and some of the companions such as Ibn Abbas
Why?
1)According to the scholars the ahadith that prohibit the menstruation from reciting the Quran are weak. There is no  Hadith sohih in the prohibition.
2) And also the prophet saw send the letter to other non Muslim rulers with the Quran in it and this show it's permissibility. Some may argue that is not the whole Quran however the argument is that the whole Quran was only been compiled after the prophet's death so what Quran is been prohibited? Partly or whole. Not mentioned in any textual proofs. If using the hadith earlier, even part of it is prohibited.
And some other adilah (proofs) not mentioned here as it will get lengthy.
Conclusion
It is up to any individual. If he feels that the first opinion is more sound, so incumbent upon him that no reading I Quran unless he is free from hadath. However if he feels that the second opinion is stronger, he can use it. For matter of differences in opinion with both sound proofs, it is better to have an open minded heart and respect each other opinion.
When someone asked me of my stand, I prefer the second opinion. Why?
Usually I always take the opinion
Of majority unless certain areas such as this. This is because of
1) taysiril ummah- make it easy for ummah.
When there are two opinions both with sound textual proofs, I will go to the one which is easier for the ummah as this is what been taught by the prophet saw. Make it easy for the ummah.
2) al istifadhah, ayyuhuma aksar- the benefits derived from it. Which one has more benefits.
From my limited and weakness, the benefits in the second opinion is more such as in :
a) taalim wa taalum- teaching n learning
There will be no disruption in teaching n learning the Quran and Deen.  Especially for  those studying to memorize the Quran etc or teaching in madrasah or etc.
b) taqarrub ilallah- closeness to Allah swt
As we know that the Quran has special effect to the hearts, surrounding etc. heart or even house devoid of the recitation of the Quran is like a deserted house in which syaithan is taking over them. By making heart devoid of this recitation will cause it to be more prone to attacks from the syaithan.
c) dakwah- invitating someone to Islam
Such as the action of the prophet saw in sending letters to rulers with Quran in it. We can also seen story of a young sahabah who been elected as an imam for his clan when he is not reached puberty coz he had memorize the most of Quran among his people, in whic he memorize them before embracing Islam n making baiah to the prophet saw.
Wallahualam

Touching the Quran
a) it is prohibited
and this is also the opinion of majority of scholars and companions
The proof is from
..... Is not touched except those who are pure (al waqiaah)
2) the Hadith of the prophet saw
You do not touch the Quran except you are clean
Don't touch the Quran except clean person
Both Hadith are sohih Inshaallah

b) it is not prohibited.
Some of the adilah is the same with reading the Quran such as the letters send to the non Muslim.
Also they understand from the ayah
The pure ones are the angels as from the overall of the ayah is mentioning Abt the angels bringing down the Quran from luh Mahfouz and explained many mufaasirin such as Ibn kathir.
Also they understand from the Hadith
That athohir or clean person mentioned are Muslim . A Muslim is always clean as mentioned in one hadith 'subhannallah ya aba hurairah, a Muslim will never become najas'
Wallahualam
Conclusion
Just as the case of recitation of the Quran , those who feel the first opinion is stronger and more safer , tafadhol and those who thinks the latter is more sound, he is also free to do so.

Last days of ramadhan

Powerful Tips for the Last 10 Nights - by Sheikh Tawfique Chowdhury :

1. Do not let your 'performance' until now affect your last 10 days. The moment of forgiveness could be today or anytime in the coming days! It is not all lost! If you sincerely wish it could have been better - Chin up and get ready to make it your best yet! Start with a positive, sincere intention!

2. Today, take a little time to read the Tafseer of Surah al-Qadr to understand what actually happens this night! You will feel its power & greatness so much more!

3. Do not wait for the 27th Night to give it your "all". The entire last 10 days should be your target. Stay up each night! Would you want to miss Laylatul Qadr even "by chance"?

4. Do not fall into any innovations/celebrations any masjid or culture might try to promote. Follow the Sunnah! The Prophet (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) guided us simply: "Whoever stays up and prays on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”

5. Memorize and keep asking the dua' taught by Rasulullah (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam): Allaahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibb al-‘afwa fa’affu ‘anni (O Allaah, You are forgiving and You love forgiveness, so forgive me).

6. Prepare a short dua' list. Remember this is as awesome as it ever gets for a servant of Allah! The Night of Qadr, of Destiny! Consciously pick each and everything you crucially wish for in this dunya, in your deen, family, and in your aakhirah! Don't forget to include the brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering and in grief!

7. Take brief naps during the day, if possible. Keep your stomach light and sleep as soon as you have prayed 'isha. Do not delay! After a brief nap, refresh yourself and get. ready for worship.

8. Don't neglect your family! Rasulullah made it a point to wake up his wives throughout these nights! And yes, your children are not too young to stay up some part of the night - if they can be allowed to play video games or watch TV, they can be inspired to be up atleast for sometime! Prepare them, make them excited, plan some activities for them to do!

 9. Look the Part: The way we dress and prepare.has a big effect on our psychology. Wear your best, perfume yourself, and feel the energy!

10. Choose a spot, whether in the Masjid or in your home, where you can have peace and solitude. Keep your mushaf, praying mat, and water at hand so that you are not distracted by constantly getting up for this or that.

11. IMP: This is not the night to tweet pics or update FB statuses about how amazing the night is and how you are feeling & worshipping Allah! Let that be a secret between you & your Rabb! So switch off those phones, wifi, laptops and computers. Disconnect with the world, and connect with al-'Afuww!

12. If you find yourself feeling sleepy, vary your acts of worship. Alternate between qiyaam, heartfelt dua'a, reading the Qur'an. Do not spend the night listening to lectures or recitations. Or do it only for a short while when you feel the sleep coming on!

13. Patience is the Key: The last 10 days might be tiring. You might still have work or school. This is the time to bear all that hardship, and keep firm sabr. Think how Allah has blessed you with this tremendous opportunity that might NEVER come again in your life again. If you knew for sure that this was your last Ramadan , if you knew certainly that Jannah was up for grabs, wouldn't you sprint for it no matter what it takes?

14. This is most important: Keep husn adh-dhann bi Allah (good expectations from Allah). When you ask, remember you are asking the Most Generous King. If you hope for the best, He will give you the best. Don't hold back. Trust in Him, pour out your heart in front of Him, and let no doubt, no barrier, no evil thoughts keep you away from ar-
Rahman, ar-Raheem!

Allahumma ballighna laylatal qadr..
